Monday Funday

What better way to start the week than with a Holiday!  Today is a great Mommy & D day.  I feel bad because the weather going up and down really messes with his allergies, but he could honestly care less.  I am thinking a fun trip to get new fabric for a wreath I will attempt (pics to follow), maybe a little park, little run, and then movie night.  I cannot believe he is eating popcorn and doing all these "big boy" things.  I know it's not much, but I just think of how fast he's grown.

On another note, this weekend was a total blast!  Blocktoberfest was legit and hilarious.  A little too much witches brew, but well, live and learn! Dave and I completed the Christmas shopping!  For once, in 5 years we are done early and debt free!  I know it's not about presents and we always express the real reason for Christmas, but I am just proud of us for setting limits and sticking to them. I cannot wait for D to wake up this year.  I just want snow and a lot of it for Christmas!

Getting excited about Thanksgiving too.  Every year since 2009 we've been away from Maryland.  My first ever Thanksgiving away we were stationed in California.  It was a shit show! Actually, if I could have video taped it I am pretty sure I could have won some money.  I was working at a scuba shop, had to go in to close a big sale.  Dave was in charge of the turkey and I had all the rest (Backstory: I am one of 7 kids, so we ALWAYS have big Thanksgivings and I am ALWAYS helping cook).  Well, we invited over any Marines and their families that couldn't go home.  We had about 10 single Marines and a few neighbors.  Well, I get back from the store and I walk into the house and Dave has put all the cookies and chips out, ON OUR BRAND NEW DISHES THAT I DIDN'T EVEN GET TO OPEN!! Oh man, then crap went down. Ha I asked him not to touch anything, so I started to cry. And, I was sad and mad, and I ran upstairs and locked myself in the bathroom. Poor guy, he never knew what hit him. He comes up to check on me and I tell him to go away.  He opens the door and I just bawl and let it all out, "You put out the cookies and chips on my new dishes, and I said don't.  No one is coming for 2 hours and we're going to have stale food and people are going to think we're lazy and poor and don't know how to cook!" He just laughed and I cried and he held me.  After about 5 minutes, he says, "I think you just miss your family and I'm sorry you can't be home, but I'll go put all the things away and you can put them out when you think we should." Ahh man, what a guy!  I don't know how he puts up with me sometimes, but I love him so much.  We laugh at it now, but it's just one of those things.  So, we shall see what is happening this year for holidays.

Alrighty, guess I'm off to clean!  Have a great Monday!

We are so alike! I would have cried over that, too! :)

Lucky you getting a vacay day! have fun. And I'm w/ you, eating popcorn in the grand scheme of things isn't a big deal, but when they are big enough to finally do? Wow, they hit another milestone. :( It just goes so fast.
