I am a military wife, so, the 1st and 15th are the worst days to be in the commissary. If you're not familiar with the concept think about black Friday; a free-for-all for groceries and lines wrapped around the store. Most people hate shopping on these days, but not me. I love people and whatnot (though my husband differs in opinion).
Any who, the point is that, now that it's getting closer to fall and summer is winding down it's time to get back to less cheat days and more running. Fall running is my fav! Cool crisp mornings= longer distance.
If you're ready to get started here are some good tips that helped me out when I first started working out and trying to make healthier choices.
* If you can't run, walk. Any kind of movement is better than no movement at all
* Switch out high-fat and high calorie foods (maybe spray dressings instead of the pouring ones. Or maybe Stevia instead of sugar)
* Find someone to hold you accountable or to change with you. Once my hubby jumped on board with me I started shedding a little faster. After starting to workout with my girls I was motivated to extend runs or do more sets
* Try to cut down "treats" to once a week. As hard as it is, having a cheat meal/snack once a week makes me appreciate it more and also makes me work harder
A link to two of my favorite workouts:
Couch to 5k : This is how I started out my running journey. I couldn't run around a track one time without having to "tie my shoe" ha. Robert does a great job with podcasts you can download right to your ipod/iphone/whatever other technology is out these days.
Can you 24?: This is a great interval training DVD. The best part is it's only 24 min long (each workout). I love that you can pick the level you want. The workouts really do give you a great workout (sore hineys and thighs the next day for sure), but they also keep me motivated. I love using these on days I don't want to go outside or even on rainy days
Happy Friday! Fall into Fitness with me!
